Arunachal Pradesh Tour Package 6 Nights 7 Days | Durga Puja Special | Ex-Guwahati

7 Days

Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival at Guwahati – Transfer to Tezpur

Get met at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station and begin the 5.5-hour drive to Tezpur, a riverside town on the Brahmaputra that serves as the ideal overnight stop before entering Arunachal Pradesh. Tezpur is one of Assam's most historically significant towns, and the drive from Guwahati through the Assam plains is a comfortable and scenic introduction to the Northeast. Check in and rest overnight in Tezpur.

Day 02 :
Tezpur – Dirang

After breakfast, drive from Tezpur into Arunachal Pradesh toward Dirang, a quiet mountain town in the West Kameng district sitting at around 1,500 metres. The road crosses into the hills and the landscape shifts quickly — from the flat Assam plains to river gorges, dense forests, and the first real mountain views of the trip. Check in at Dirang and spend the evening at leisure before the longer drive ahead.

Day 03 :
Dirang – Tawang

Drive from Dirang to Tawang through one of the most spectacular mountain roads in India. The route crosses the Sela Pass at 14,000 feet — one of the highest motorable passes in the world — where the air is thin, the landscape is bare and dramatic, and the Sela Lake sits frozen beside the road for much of the year. Stop at the Jaswant Garh War Memorial, dedicated to Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat who is said to have held off an entire Chinese battalion during the 1962 war — a story that locals and the Indian Army still speak of with deep reverence. Arrive in Tawang and check in for the night.

Day 04 :
Tawang – Madhuri Lake & Bumla Pass

Spend the full day on the high-altitude circuit around Tawang, subject to permission from the DC office. The drive to Bumla Pass takes you to the India-China border at over 15,000 feet — a high-altitude frontier crossing that requires a local vehicle and army clearance, and delivers an atmosphere unlike anything else on this trip. On the way back, visit Madhuri Lake — also called Shungetser Lake — a glacial lake surrounded by snow-covered peaks that became widely known after being featured in a Shahrukh Khan film shoot in the 1990s. Overnight in Tawang.

Day 05 :
Tawang – Bomdila

After an early breakfast, drive from Tawang to Bomdila, retracing part of the Sela Pass route before descending into the West Kameng valley. If time permits on arrival, visit the Bomdila Monastery, a peaceful Tibetan Buddhist monastery with wide valley views and a calm atmosphere that makes for a good end to a long driving day. Overnight in Bomdila.

Day 06 :
Bomdila – Guwahati

Start early after breakfast and drive back to Guwahati through the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh and across the Assam plains — a long day on the road that brings the mountain section of the trip to a close. Check in at Guwahati for the final overnight stay.

Day 07 :
Guwahati – Departure

If your flight or train allows time in the morning, visit the Kamakhya Temple — one of the most important Shakti shrines in India, perched on Nilachal Hill above the Brahmaputra River. Transfer to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey home.
