Explore Anini & Dibang Valley

Drive from Dibrugarh into Arunachal Pradesh, crossing the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge — one of India's longest river bridges, stretching over the Lohit River with wide open views on both sides. The road into Roing takes you through thick forests and quiet villages that set the tone for what this trip is all about. Arrive in Roing and settle in for the night.

Start early and make your way over Mayudia Pass, a high mountain crossing surrounded by snow and dense rhododendron forests that's easily one of the most scenic stretches of the entire trip. The drive passes through the remote villages of Hunli and Etalin, where life moves at a pace you rarely see elsewhere. Arrive in Anini by evening — one of the most isolated district headquarters in the country.

Drive to Acheso and continue to the Chigu Camp area, a quiet and largely untouched stretch of the Dibang Valley with mountain views that are hard to put into words. Take the day slow, stop whenever something catches your eye, and let the landscape do most of the talking.

Head up to the Anini Viewpoint in the morning for a wide, unobstructed look at the valley and the ranges beyond. Drive through the peaceful Mathun Valley during the day, and end the evening with a walk through Anini's small local market — a simple but genuine look at daily life in this remote corner of Arunachal.

Retrace the mountain route back over Mayudia Pass, which looks entirely different on the return — different light, different mood, equally worth it. Stop at the famous SD Dhaba just before Roing, a beloved roadside stop with a view of the valley that makes for a perfect end to the day.

After breakfast, begin the four-hour drive back to Dibrugarh, crossing the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge one last time before the trip comes to a close.

Add a day to visit Kapang, a tribal village in Dambuk known for its orange orchards and quiet rural life. Trek through the groves, visit the RIWATCH Museum to learn about the indigenous cultures of Arunachal Pradesh, and end the evening with a walk along the banks of Sally Lake.
